domestic animals; to manage care for missing, abused and stray animals; to
encourage compliance through education, programs, resources and enforcement;
to help assure public health and safety for the community and animals.

Lovington Animal Shelter
The City of Lovington Animal Shelter has been matching loving furry companions to
pet parents and families for years. Our objective is to engage people to assist in
creating an environment of compassion for our shelter animals through adoption,
education, spay/neuter, and positive community outreach.
Our Mission: Saving one paw at a time
Our Vision: To see all healthy animals make it out of the shelter alive, through building
community programs and partnerships across the nation
Our goal is to be considered a no-kill shelter with 90% of cats and dogs coming into the
shelter being saved.
2023 Live release rate for Lovington Shelter is 74%.
What does this mean?
Live release rate measures activity related to the impact of animals admitted and the
number of Live Outcomes.
How to we achieve our goal?
When Live Outcomes are increased and strategies are used to decrease intake, the live
release rate goes up.

Laura Brock is the Supervisor for the City of Lovington, Animal Protection Services. Laura has worked for the city since 2011. During her years of service, she has earned her Certification as an Animal Control Officer, Euthanasia Tech, Asbestos Inspector, and Zoning Official. Laura was elected to serve as District 5 Representative of the NMLZO District Representative Committee December 2016 – October 2018. In October of 2018 she was elected to serve on the New Mexico Zoning League Board of Directors as the City Board Member and served until April 2022. She also served as Director of Keep Lovington Beautiful for 4 years. Laura served as the Chairperson for the City Personnel Board in 2022. When Laura isn’t busy with work and her four children, she plays disc golf, attends church functions, and spends time with family and friends. The love she has for God, family and making a positive difference in this world is the heart of everything she does.
