​Street Department

The Lovington Street Department is responsible for the majority of construction, maintenance and repair of the City’s surface streets, alleys, curbs, gutters, signage, striping and right-of-ways owned by the City. It assists the New Mexico Department of Transportation  signage and roadways that are owned by the State of New Mexico.  This department  and the experience of its personnel are a vital part in nuisance remediation, working closely with the City Code Enforcement Department.   

Bernardo Gutierrez is the Street Department Supervisor.  Bernardo began his service with the City in 1998 in the Street Department and held various positions until he was promoted to Supervisor in 2016.  He possesses his CDL, backhoe certification, demolition license as well as pesticides, herbicides license  and loader certification. In addition to his street duties, he also is the supervisor for the City Convenience Center where he holds his transfer station operators license. He is a strong believer in teamwork and has often said "The greatest thing is I get to work with two of the best crews any supervisor can have."
